Excellent pointers of how to begin conversations about politics. It’s so necessary. We are all Americans. It’s important for us to remember that before beginning any conversations to help ease the divide between our fellow Americans. Thank-you!
Kat, thank you. It was your comment on my "Personal is political" post that inspired me to write this one. I've spent a lot more time thinking about it, and hope it helps others as well. Thanks again. Please share the column with others if you can.
Such a well-written and helpful piece! Thank you! I remember asking my babysitter how she voted (a very long time ago) and she chastised me because it's impolite to ask about others' political views! I agree with you; it's time we shed that very old model. I do like the concept of digging deeper with people. I have found that there are some people with opposing political views with whom I do have commonalities -- a love of nature for instance. I'll keep working on it!
Thank you for reading and for your thoughts, Betsy! I believe your love of nature is one of the most healing connections we could ask for. Thanks for that reminder too.
The divide is getting deeper by the day. Thanks for the research and do-able pointers.
Thank you for your thoughts, S -- we're in this together. much appreciated!

I thought it might be. It was all very good, btw. I believe there are a lot of us out there that struggle with this. I will be sharing for sure!
