There are many diminishers out there proudly wearing MAGA hats and bullying their fellow Americans and the world.

Thank you Cindy. Sadly I know a few diminishers. I just ordered that book. Can’t wait to read it. Hoping it will help me with the people I know who are like that. Always enjoy reading your Substack!

"You want to be listening so actively that you're practically burning calories" Great quote! Fantastic! Loved this, Cindy! Great read. Thank you for sharing. Advice we all need to heed right now. May we all lean in a little harder, illuminate as much as possible, and bring even those lost in the darkness into the light. As Dr. King reminds us, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

I am not familiar with the book, but LOVE the concept if illuminators and diminishers. And such good tips. Thank you.

Love this post so much, Cindy! I feel like a lot of what has caused so much divisiveness is that very few people have the skill of being an illuminator. So no one feels heard. Which means few people feel respected or valued. I hope it’s a skill that can be taught, and that people start to realize it’s a skill we ALL need to have if we’re going to get along (despite our differences). Thanks for an illuminating post!!
